Wicked winner by Keep The Faith

Wednesday, 19 December 2012

David Jolly prepared a ‘Wicked' double for owners Ross and Jill Bourne at Morphettville on the weekend.

Wicked Secrets (Keep The Faith) bolted in by six lengths when breaking her maiden in the Sportingbet Plate (1050m) on Friday and Wicked Dreams (Key Business) ended a long losing streak in the Dominant Hcp (1250m) 24 hours later.

Wicked Secrets (4m Keep The Faith - Secret Haze by Danehill) led from go-to-whoa when resuming from a 23 week spell.  She is a half sister to LR Malaysian Magic Millions Classic winner Good Baby (Hussonet) and the Bournes bought her for $28,000 at the 2010 Adelaide Magic Millions.

David Jolly's stable has been on fire in recent weeks with 11 winners from its past 27 runners.  The Goolwa trainer said there was no big secret to the recent success. "We had a bit of an ordinary winter and spring and we weren't able to use Strathalbyn or the beach to work our horses," he said. “As the weather's improved, so have their fitness levels.

"We've got a nice team of horses for Boxing Day and it looks like we've got a reasonable group that will head to the carnival next autumn."

Wicked Secrets is by Greta West Stud sire Keep The Faith who has built up a tremendous strike-rate in Adelaide headed by his stakes-winning fillies Dinkum Diamond and Lucky Penny.

Jolly also trained Keep The Faith galloper Lucky Sunday to a Morphettville victory earlier this season for owners Mario and Robbie Vallelonga.  The gelding has since switched stables to David’s brother Richard Jolly and he’s knocking on the door after an unlucky second at Balaklava last week.
Another Morphettville winner by Keep The Faith is the Greta West bred four year-old Fear The Faith.  The Bill Bogarts trained gelding is gearing up for another preparation after a forward trial at Gawler a fortnight ago.

Bogarts bought his younger brother for $30,000 at the 2012 Adelaide Magic Millions and he has been named Trust The Faith.  Their dam Royal Jama (Royal Academy) has a yearling filly by Churchill Downs and she foaled anther filly by Stryker for Greta West studmaster Laurie McCarthy last month.
