Right Choice at Magic Millions
31 July 2013

Will Hulbert made the right choice when he bought a Keep The Faith colt at the Magic Millions 2YO Sale last November.

The youngster cost $35,000 at the Gold Coast and he’s worth much more now after a front-running victory at Doomben.  There was a Hong Kong offer in the low six-figure range following that three length win but connections are confident the bids will keep coming as he rises up the ranks.

Will’s Choice is his name and he’s part-owned and trained by Will’s father Peter Hulbert.  “He clocked a quick furlong before the HIT Sale and Ryan Plumb told Will he had ability,” Hulbert snr recalled.  “He’s a little bit turned out in front but he’s got a clean action it doesn’t seem to affect him at all.”

The Hulberts race Will’s Choice in partnership with Ron Conquest jnr, Robert Hood, Murray Collins and Lilyvale Stud owners Stewart and Jennie Barr.

The Eagle Farm based youngster is the third late-season juvenile winner by Greta West Stud sire Keep The Faith.  Honey's Steel Gold scored a LR victory in the Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m) at Flemington and Singapore based Mexborough Boy also earned black-type when placed in the G2 Golden Horseshoe Final at Kranji.

Will’s Choice (2g Keep The Faith - La Signorina by Distorted Humor) was gelded after two educational runs in February and never gave his rivals a chance first-up after 22 weeks.  “He’s come on a treat since Doomben,” Hulbert reported.  “Patrick Holmes rides him work and on raceday and said he’s improved at least a couple of lengths.

“He will step up to 1300m at Eagle Farm on Saturday week (August 10),” Hulbert added.  “He’s a nice horse on the way up and we will get a better idea of where he’s at after next week.”

Keep The Faith (Sunday Silence) broke the century for the season just gone with 101 wins in Australia and prizemoney of $1.93 million.  He stands for a $4,400 (inc gst) service fee at Greta West Stud alongside God’s Own (Redoute’s Choice) and King of Prussia (Anabaa).
