Disciple transfers to Perth
Thursday, 12 November 2014

God's Own galloper Disciple has been transferred to Perth for feature races at the Ascot summer carnival.

The six year-old gelding earned $345,000 with Chris Waller and will join Sean Casey's stable at Bullsbrook.

"He's certainly capable of performing well over here and I hope he can gain a start in the Railway Stakes," Casey told Perth Racing earlier this week.  "If we don't get a start in the Group 1, a race like the Carbine Club Stakes would be a nice alternative on the same day."

The $1 million Railway Stakes will be run on Saturday week, November 22.

Another target at the carnival could be the G3 Scahill Stakes (1400m) at Ascot on December 6.  Casey has ruled out running Disciple in races past a mile.

Disciple (6g God's Own Myrrh by Nassipour) was given plenty of time to mature and didn't break his maiden until an autumn three year-old at Gosford.  "He's got a great turn of foot," Waller said after a Rosehill victory last year.  "He just keeps improving since we've kept him to sprint trips."

A younger half-brother to G1 Doncaster Handicap winner Triple Honour, he was a $100,000 buy for part-owner Colm Santry at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

God's Own (Redoute's Choice) stands at Greta West Stud and he has sired 30 individual winners of 39 races for prizemoney of $884,565 this season.
